They were perfectly moist and light and fluffy, with nice full tops. They made a lovely birthday present too!
Also, a wee one-monthiversary present for Harriet featuring Mary Blair's brilliantly illustrated Golden Book, I Can Fly.
I have a list of things to do a mile long but I think I'll go play some guitar hero first.
How could I not have known there were daleks in the sphere...
I know. This sounds disgusting, inedible even. However if you haven't had it before and therefore do not know it's beauty, trust me, it is very, very, very good.
1 box of white cake mix
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 package of powdered whipped cream
2 cans of rootbeer
Mix the cake mix with eggs, vegetable oil and one can of root beer (335 mLs). Bake as per directions on cake box.
Once the cake has cooled prepare packaged whipped cream substituting rootbeer for the required liquid.
Awesome Craftiness In A Box from Weirdo! featuring a whole bunch of Felt Club goodies. In Canada I can only dream of Felt Club. We did an impromptu craft exchange and I sent her a skully pouch and she graciously offered to send me her Felt Club swag in return. She also threw in a sparkly shirt and a bunch of other cool stuff from her work. Thank you Weirdo, it was such a wonderful package to come home to tonight!
I've got some more crafts to update as well. Here is perhaps the crappiest thing I've ever made, certainly the crappiest thing I've ever given away. AND, I gave it to Smartygirl - an A-level crafter of all people. I wanted to make something for little Harry and I had this great robot print fabric. Since it is only through blind luck that I have managed to sew anything in the past I was not too suprised that I did an abyssmal job on the blanket trim. However, a blanket's a blanket no matter how crap the binding is sewn on so I'm hoping she can find a use for it anyways. I'd have made another but I bought the absolute last of the fabric.
I spent a wonderful day with SK8 exactly as we used to like them best when we lived in good ol' 867. My Ginagirl arrived this week so she came along on our adventure. I do hope they all sell out and they get to make more. My only complaint is that sometimes her neck slouches over in a weird way and then her head looks a bit deformed in pictures. Probably this is my fault. We spent far too much time in Lettuce Knit in Kensington.
Holy awesomeness. Al Waxman as Mother Russia? He has never looked better!
Seriously. It is so cold inside of my house right now that I swear if the temperature drops another degree it will start snowing in my bedroom. I am currently wrapped up in a quilt and 2 (2!) duvets. And, Alastair is lying on my bed snoring. I think that's sufficient reason to get up and make some cupcakes.
I'll end with a closer and say goodnight.
One day I would like to have a drawing by neckface. Oh yes. My hero.
There has been lots of crafting in these parts as of late. Here is some of it. For the craftster January birthday swap I made the cupcake pouch seen below. I also swankified some IKEA slippers with the matching fabric. Below the slipper picture is a picture of the most awesome cupcake themed cards ever. I received these from bunnyboo in the swap and I adore them. Feast your eyes! There are a few more pouches as well, another skully which was sent off to weirdo and a broken heart one. I am enjoying the applique function on my machine tres beaucoup!
I've been tagged by weirdo
"Once you have been tagged, you have to write a blog with 5 facts about yourself. Then choose 5 people you want to tag and list their names. Then leave a comment on their blog letting them know they’ve been tagged."
- Blue Kool-aid slush is my favourite thing to eat, ever.
- I would like 2 more tattoos, an anchor on my right foot for my grandfather and some sort of creative piece with an anatomical heart and skulls that goes from my inner elbow to my wrist on my left arm for my brother.
- My cat has an S.T.D.
- My M.A. thesis which I am currently writing is about television, domesticity and feminism.
- My birthday is this Friday and I will be 29!
Now I will tag:
Knitfreak who will likely doesn't check this blog anymore, and
Smartygirl who just had a baby! so is very conceivably too busy
and anyone else who wants to be tagged.
Since I haven't updated in forever - here's the rundown of what's been going on. Sewing continues on. I can only make one thing - a zippered pouch but I have made a lot of them. There are a few on their way out to various swap partners so I'll post pictures once they've been received. In Blythe news I snuck in a pre-order for Aubrey, one of the new Prima Dollies at HLJ. I'd originially planned on holding out until real pictures of the dolls were available but evidently I was unable to control myself. I also have Gingirl coming soon, Tuesday. I'm excited to see what she looks like in person and figured it was closest I'd get to owning something by the absolutely brilliant Christina. Oh, I received the most beautiful notecards from my swap partner in the the January birthday swap on Craftster. I'll have pictures soon!
And finally, welcome to the world little Harry, I can't wait to meet you!
